Sally Popa (Tobias)

Location: Columbus, OH (I’d rather be in Ann Arbor)

Current Status: Retired but busy

General Info: I have been married to Nick Popa since 2001.  He is retired now but was the Media Director for Pepsi here in Columbus. I worked for Time Warner Cable for 33 years and held a couple key positions: Advertising Sales Promotions Manager and Executive Assistant to the President of the Columbus Division for my final 6 years.  We have four grown children between us.  Jackie, Nicholas, Nicole and Justin. Three are living in Columbus (where I landed in 1978 through a previous marriage) and one lives in Palm Harbor, FL.  We have 6 grandchildren that range from 17 to 3 years old, three girls and three boys. I stay really busy as a board member for SOAP (save our adolescents from prostitution). We educate, do street outreach, retreats, mentoring and more with human trafficking survivors. I love technology (I’m an Apple fan) and constantly learning and updating my devices from my IPad, Apple Watch and Phone.  I stay busy with the grandchildren, travel to our place in Orlando and other destinations and enjoy power walks and exercise classes. My husband loves to golf and fish and we belong to a country club and a fishing club to satisfy those interests.  We also go to a few car shows each year with our 1973 Citroen SM (a French car).  We are pretty social and always dining or traveling with friends and keeping busy. We live in Worthington Ohio in a stand-alone condo on a big hill surrounded by woods and a deep ravine.  It’s a quiet, private road with just 26 homes.  We know and love our neighbors and socially involved with many of them. That’s probably enough rambling from me...LOL

Memories of St. Thomas: Betsy Ross after school, basketball games, living vicariously through my older and beautiful sister, Peggy, who always had boys interested in her, being in chorus with Mr. Lawrence who was the kindest man I’ve ever met, barely surviving biology with Mr. Thompson, wishing I would have been a cheerleader, having lots of friends in all grades, feeling blessed that a middle class girl with 9 siblings was lucky enough to attend Catholic schools.  I enjoyed my experience at St. Francis and St. Thomas and love all the friends I’ve met and many I’ve kept in touch with.
