Current location: Cumming, GA

Current status: Married 47 years

General Info: After high school, I went to Washtenaw Community College for one semester and took a year off. I traveled around Europe then continued at WCC. I finished school at EMU and graduated in June 1978. I could only take classes when I had the money to pay for it. I got married to Kathleen Fromm who went to our arch-rival St. Johns in Ypsilanti. Many St. Thomas and St. John’s kids worked at the Ponderosa near Arborland Mall. Kathy Rickard set up a double date and she set me up with Kathleen — we married in 1973. We have 4 children and 10 grandkids, 8 girls & twin boys.

I worked multiple jobs which included a gas station, a drugstore, HuronviewLodge Convalescence Center (Dave Burke also worked there), CoboHall in Detroit (with Marc Iott), Insurance Agent for the University of Michigan Employees, a forklift driver for Chef Pierre in Traverse City, and then in 1977 I went to work for UPS. I worked in Ypsilanti, Livonia, and then transferred to the Corporate Headquarters in Atlanta GA. I retired after 30 years.

We then became semi-retired as we opened an Events Facility in Northport, MI. We spent 6 months in MI and the other 6 months in GA. We sold the business and our house in Michigan, then moved back full-time to GA in 2016.

We are blessed as all of our kids live within 45 minutes from us. With ten grandchildren (ages 18 months to 13 years), we spend most of our time going to soccer, softball, basketball, music recitals, and many other activities.

Favorite memories from St. Thomas years: I have to say it is all the friends I made while at STHS. Working at the Michigan Pharmacy was a blast. Doug Gibson & I were the first ones to work there in our class but also Tom Schwind, Bruce Otwell, Peter Defordand many others. Also, I think that there were more “firsts” in those four years than at any other time. (I will let you think about them). Also, I never studied and they still let me graduate?
