Mike Morehouse
Current location: Ann Arbor, MI
Current status: Widowed (Peggy passed away March 2017) Married 1974
General info: After graduating from Ferris State with a BS in Environmental Health in 1975, I started work back in Ann Arbor working at the Washtenaw County Health Department. Retired in early 1997 and started a consulting business helping clients with their regulatory compliance difficulties when municipal sewer and water are not available. (I am still at it.) Over the last 25 years, I helped to see schools, golf courses, churches, convents, and subdivisions get built in and around Ann Arbor.
Peggy and I had four children: Christopher +-44 a contractor in Ypsilanti, Kaitlyn +- 40 a nurse at Munson in Traverse City, Erin +-37 currently a homemaker in Troy MI, and Kevin +- 35 in law enforcement in TX. I have eight grandchildren with one on the way — the oldest is 21.
I have too many clients that depend on me to retire, though I have trained them to allow me to winter in Sun City, AZ every year. I have threatened them that as soon as my box of business cards is empty, I’m done! We’ll see.
Favorite memories from St. Thomas years: Too many to remember. The track team had an end- of-year party at Dave Spaan’s home every year that was always memorable! I still remember (some) of the band members and the instruments they played and our band leader Morris Lawrence: Pete DeFord on drums, Pat Chase on bass clarinet, Charlotte Hamilton on sax, Sharon ? Flute . . . well the memory does go after awhile. Gentlemen/Ladies do you remember the ties? skirts below the knees? Sr. Augustine? Sr. Florentia? Sr. Mary Timothy? Back to favorites.
BTW I taught part time at Washtenaw CC and at Eastern MI — ran in to Morris Lawrence often. The first time, he was astonished I’d be there teaching! ALSO remember Mr. Curtis with the squeaky shoes. Yep he was at WCC and I heard some shoes squeaking . . . turned around and it was him!
